Traditional Painting Techniques

Class got off to a great start this weekend. This is the painting we are using to study a monochromatic under-painting using a version of the Venetian Method.

The Mill by Rembrandt, on view at The National Gallery of Art. I will have copies in class but you can download your own image at  nga images 

I have removed the color in this version to resemble what an under-painting would have looked like. This is the goal of our first lession. To paint this and then let it dry before the next class.
